Winter is not a very popular time of year since most of the people prefer the heat in summer rather than the freezing winter. But it is not only because of the warm weather, but because of the rituals that go with it, for instance, going to the beach, enjoying a beer on a terrace or walking down the street without freeze.
On the contrary, winter is the favorite season of people who love for winter sports, more specifically those sports which have snow as the main protagonist, as, for example, skiing. There are more and more ardent supporters of this sport, and it is therefore expanding the market in all fields related to skiing, like sports equipment or sunscreens. With this in mind, we are going to dedicate this post to the Spanish Resort of Baqueira Beret, situated in the autonomous community of Catalonia. Baqueira is an ideal place for those people from Barcelona who want to visit it due to its proximity to the station. However, they are not only the Catalans who come here frequently in winter, but also those coming from the Balearic Islands, Valencia, Aragon and France.
Baqueira Beret, located in the Valle de Arán, is the Spanish skiing resort which has more hectares (1922 acres) suitable for skiing, although Formigal Skiing Resort exceeds the number of kilometers (137 km) suitable for this sport. Baqueira Beret was inaugurated in 1964 and the snow quality is very high due to its geographic location, since it is located on the northern slope and that makes that there is many and deep snow during winter. The skiing resort has three areas: Baqueira, Beret and Bonaigua, and some of the best-known tracks are Tubo Nere and Luis Arias, which descend between trees. Anyway, we can find tracks for all levels and they are mostly very spacious. This is due, in part, to the improvement that has been done since the opening, having a last great investment in 2009. We cannot forget to mention the view from Baqueira Beret. It is beautiful, plain and simple, with an endless Alpine landscape in which we can distinguish the Aneto, a mount which has more than 3000 meters.
It is undeniable that one of the biggest attractions of the skiing resort has been the amount of well-known celebrities who have been spending their Christmas holidays in it, including the Spanish Royal Family. This is not surprising given that the station boasts a very wide choice of hotels and even has very select stores at track level, not to mention the attentions received there. Anyway, if you are nearly broke, you would like to know that there are many stores that adapts to all types of budget.
